I just need to talk about this for a second. You know, I know some of the writing for CS could have been better this season – and I do actually feel their relationship was not given the screentime it warranted after such a big moment in the S3 finale. But I have to say, what we DID get… is so meaningful and beautiful. Look how their story arcs have paralleled.

In 4a, they both battled with being afraid of not being able to control themselves and were afraid of hurting those they loved. Both were manipulated by darker powers (Ingrid & Rumple) and both had to learn to accept who they are in order to find peace. Hook asked for his hook back and Emma embraced her magic.

Now, in 4b, they both battled with falling into the darkness. Hook pulled the gun on Ursula b/c he was afraid of Rumple taking Emma and her family away from him. Emma pulled the gun on Lily b/c she threatened her family and everything she holds dear. Instead of doing that and indulging in their darker impulses, they reunited their foes with their family, righting the wrongs of the past. (Ursula with her father and Lily with her mother) – And both times, they’re in an embrace watching it happen.

This is what is so special about Captain Swan and why they are unlike any other relationship on the show. They inspire each other. They understand each other b/c they’re like the missing piece of each other’s puzzle. You want to talk about a solid relationship built on mutual respect, understanding and trust? THAT is Captain Swan. They are so perfect for each other and I am so thankful for the story that the writers are telling through them this season.

Oh, when I first met you
There were things I’d been through
That I would never tell
But it was almost as if
You already knew my language
Cause you’d been there yourself
